Girls Weekend

Last weekend, Avery and I headed eat to The Mebane's house on the Albermarle Sound for a fun and relaxing girls weekend.  There are 7 of us from college that have remained close since we graduated.  We also had a little celebration for Melissa before she gets married this September.  Avery had a wonderful time with all the girls and appreciated all the spoiling that she received.  I was also very grateful for all the help.

First Photo Shoot

A few weeks ago we had some newborn pictures taken of Avery.  Michelle Tomlinson of Michelle Tomlinson Photography came to our house to capture some photos of our sweet baby girl.  Avery was asleep for most of the shoot but started to wake up at the end when she had some pictures done with Mommy and Daddy.  We are very pleased with how they turned out and can't wait to get some prints up in our house.  A big thank you to Michelle!

This is my favorite!

A GREAT Day

I took Avery to her great-grandparents house the other day for a visit.  While there she also got to visit with her great-aunt Cheryl, great-cousin Jenny and Jenny's son, Sean.  Sean is the 11th great-grandchild of my grandparents, Avery is number 12 and Jenny is having a little girl (number 13) in October.  We had a great time visiting with all these great people and she even got to hang out with Pepaw and Granny for awhile.

Babysitters

I know I have mentioned the wonderful help we have had from my niece, Madison.  She has been coming over for a few hours each week, and it has been so great to have some help.  It has given me time to catch up around the house, as well as take some time to relax.  Madi is going to be an awesome babysitter one day and we will be using her as soon as her mom gives us the okay.  Madison and her friend, Alessandra, came over the other day to hang out with Avery.  Both of these future babysitters are sweet and responsible.  They worked together to take care of Avery while I caught up on house work and other things.  A big thank you to these awesome girls, and Avery can't wait till the next time you come over!

Another day last week, we had a visit from Samantha and Alexis while their mom was playing tennis.  They were such big helpers and had a blast reading and hanging out with Avery.
I think these pictures of Samantha and Alexis reading to Avery are adorable.  I know I have said it many times, but Avery has some truly amazing cousins!  They all sat in her nursery for hours reading and playing.  The girls were eager to help change diapers as well.

Sadie even joined in on the fun.  I love this picture of Samantha looking down on Avery as she snuggled with the stuffed bear.  Trey and I can't wait till the girls are old enough to babysit, but until then we are loving having them over to help and hang out!

FaceTime

Trey got us an iPad2 right before Avery was born.  It was so much fun to have with us while in the hospital, and it has kept me entertained during those late night feedings.  Trey's mother got one for her 60th birthday and we have many other friends and family members with iPhones and iPads.  One of our favorite features of the new apple products is FaceTime.  This past Saturday we had FaceTime with family down at the beach (Aunt Tay, Gigi, Papa, and Jenny B).  We had a blast chatting with them.  Then we got a surprise ring from the rest of the Burris' in Hickory.  It was so fun to chat with Justin, Mike and Toni.  They got to see Avery as well.  She can't wait to see them all in person one day.
A few hours later, Avery got to chat with her cousins after they finished a morning bike ride.  We have so much fun with FaceTime and everyone likes to see Avery when they are not able to visit.  We are so grateful for this fun app and love how it allows us to keep in touch with friends and family.  We look forward to more chatting on FaceTime in the future.  We hope more friends and family will get these fun apple products.

Big Bear

Avery's great-uncle Tom, aunt Melissa and cousins, Ben and Ryan, in Chicago sent her this fun bear.  She is going to have so much fun with this big guy when she gets bigger.  It is so cute and soft.  Avery's cousins here in NC have already has a blast with her big bear.  We need to come up with a name for her big fluffy friend.
Thank you very much Fisher family!
Don't let this face fool you, she loves her big bear.

Call me!

Avery was wide awake the other morning after sleeping like a champ on Friday night.  It is so fun to see her becoming more alert.  She was able to hold on to a phone rattle.  We had a lot of fun hearing the noises it made when she moved it around.  We also had some fun sending videos to family and friends of Avery calling them and talking on her "phone."
Trying to decide who to call next.
Sadie wanted to join in on the fun and say "hey" to everyone.
Calling my buddies.

I had some really cute videos, but I could not get them loaded.  Avery is going to girls weekend at the beach with mommy's friends from college next weekend.  She called all of them to let them know how excited she is to see them.  Before we know it she'll be playing with our phones and asking for her own (like some cousins I know).

One Month!

Today Avery is one month old.  Feels like the yesterday we were in the hospital anxiously awaiting her arrival.  The past month has been so much fun and we cherish everyday with our little girl.  We look forward to watching her grow each day and posting her progress every month.
Avery is starting to make really fun facial expressions.  We especially love her expressions and adorable noises that she makes while sleeping.  In one month she has been on several shopping adventures, a trip to the lake, days at the pool and had a lot of lunch dates and visitors.  We have enjoyed going on walks around the neighborhood and to Bruegger's for breakfast.  Avery loves tummy time and hanging out in her swing and bouncy seat.  She has been sleeping in her crib since she was a few days old and we love to watch her on the baby monitor.
To this day, Avery is sleeping in 3-4 hours increments and she occasionally goes 5 hours between feedings at night.  Mommy and daddy get very excited when she blesses us with the extra sleep at night.
