How does your garden grow?

Last night I got Trey to try on our baby carrier.  It's called an ERGO.  I love it and so far Avery does as well.  You have no strain on your back and it is a great way to carry the baby when you need to get stuff done.  I have used it around the house already.  We all went outside to check on the garden and pick some zucchini and cucumber that were ready.
Check out our garden.  We will have tomatoes, green peppers and jalapenos soon.  We have had a ton of zucchini and just started getting some cucumbers.  It has been so nice cooking from our garden thus far this summer.  I am already planning on making some baby food from the garden next year.

Who needs hair anyway...

Avery had a collection of bows before she even arrived into our world.  Although she was born with a pretty head of dark hair, she didn't quite have enough to hold any of her pretty bows.  Thankfully, I found these wonderful headbands to hold her bows.  Enjoy some pictures of our pretty girl with all her bows.

Splish Splash!

After Avery's first adventure to the pool, she had her first real bath.  Saturday was a day of many firsts for this sweet girl.  She did very well in the bath, as well as the pool.  We tried to have face time with Gigi and Papa but could not get them to connect.  Instead, daddy captured this picture of our water baby on the ipad.

Sweet summertime!

Saturday we took Avery to the pool for the first time.  Mommy was very excited when Avery's cord fell off on Friday, and even more excited when she saw the weekend forecast.  It was a perfect day to take Miss Avery to the pool as the temperature was in the upper 80s.  We got to spend the day with Avery's cousins, aunt Roni and uncle Mike at their pool.  It was so fun and relaxing.  We are looking forward to the family beach trip in August and more pool days to come.

Nursery Pictures!

We have completed some of the final touches on Avery's nursery.  My mom finished her curtains last week and they were well worth the wait.  She did an amazing job and they look perfect in her room.
The chair in her room is one of my favorite pieces and we spend a lot of time in it together.  It is perfect for feeding, rocking and lounging.  The chair swivels, rocks and reclines.  We got it at Green Pea Baby in Apex and I highly recommend their store to any mommy or expecting mommy.  The picture above her changing table was my inspiration for the entire room.  My sister and nieces got her the adorable bow holder.  She already has so many beautiful bows. Thank goodness the bows can attach to her headbands because sweet Avery does not have enough hair to hold the bows.
I got her linen from Green Pea Baby, as well as many other things in the nursery.  My mom and I probably spent 3 hours in their store after we found out we were having a girl.  The girls in there are very knowledgeable on all baby products and they have so many beautiful options for decorating a nursery.
The bookshelf was made by my talented father, and I ordered the decal from etsy.
They add a fun touch to her birdie themed nursery.
The chandelier from Trey's parents adds a perfect girly touch to the nursery.
I had been wanting this birdcage picture holder for a long time.  I had seen it in Restoration hardware but was not willing to pay $90 for it.  My sister saw an add in the Sunday paper for the same item in World Market for a third of the price.  I immediately headed out to get it for the nursery.  It fits perfectly with the birdie theme and gives us a place to post pictures and future artwork.
Finally, this gorgeous piece of artwork needs to be hung.  My fabulous and artistic friend, Robin, made this for Avery after she was born.  I can't wait to hang it on the wall.  This is something she will always have and we are so grateful for this beautiful gift.

Trips to the pediatrician!

Today Avery had her 2 week check-up with the pediatrician.  She was 7lbs 7oz when she was born and was 7lbs 2oz at her first appointment when she was 5 days old.  Today she was 7lbs and 13oz (50%).  She was 20 inches long when she was born and today she was 21 inches (75%).  Our sweet girl has a clogged tear duct in her left eye.  The doctor said that it is common and nothing to worry about.  It will resolve on it's own and we are very grateful.  Avery is growing well and eating like a champ.  She is doing great with breastfeeding and take a bottle very well too!  She rarely takes a paci and prefers to suck on her fingers, although her mommy wishes she would sucks the paci instead (you can take a paci away).

Below are picture from our first visit to the pediatrician.  We did not have daddy to help and take pictures at our 2 week visit.  Let's hope our next visit is for our 2 month check-up and we do not have any unscheduled sick visits.

Check back later this week for the final pictures of Avery's nursery.  My mom finished her curtains last week and it all looks adorable.  We also had Avery's newborn pictures done on Monday and I will share them as soon as we get them from the photographer.  To see a sneak peak of her pictures, check out Michelle Tomlinson Photography on facebook.  We are very excited to see all the pictures from the secession.  Trey and I are hoping to make it to the pool this weekend for the first time since Avery was born.

Work with mommy!

Last week my work had a retreat at Jordan Lake.  I wasn't sure if we were going to be able to attend due to the heat and potential thunderstorms.  however, Avery and I woke up Thursday morning to pretty weather and with much energy.  I got her ready and then myself.  We were going to run a bunch of errands and stop by the retreat.  It is something nice that my work has done for the past 2 years.  It was great to introduce Avery to all my co-workers.  We were able to get a few pictures of Avery in Tarheel 2 before we left.  Maybe she'll be a transport nurse like her mommy one day!

Crazy that I was flying in here up until the morning I was due.

Daddy's day!

I could not have dreamed of a more perfect father for Avery.  Not only is Trey an impeccable husband, but he is also a amazing and loving father.  I am so proud of Trey, and I know that he and Avery are going to have a bond that only a father and daughter can. We love you daddy!

We had a special card made with their first picture together on it.

A busy weekend of celebrations!

This past weekend was very busy.  Trey's best friend Justin got married, and Trey's family came into town for the special occasion.  Not only was Friday the rehearsal dinner, but it was also Byron's (Trey's dad) 60th Birthday.  Then on Saturday we attended Justin and Julie's gorgeous and extremely fun wedding at the Angus Barn Pavilions.  Then on Sunday we celebrated father's day with Trey's family then in the evening we headed to my sister's house to celebrate father's day and Alexis' 10th birthday.  Needless to say we all crashed by Sunday night.  Hope you enjoy some pictures from our fun and busy weekend.

Friday afternoon Taylor, Avery, Gigi and myself went dress shopping.  Aunt Taylor found her wedding dress and it looks amazing.  We can't wait for her wedding in April.
Avery was worn out after our shopping adventure.

On Sunday we walked to brueggers for a nice father's day breakfast.

Then it was off to my sister's house for dinner and more celebrations.
