First "Real" Haircut

A few months ago I trimmed the back of her hair because she was growing a mullet, but last week she went to my hairdresser for her first real haircut.  She sat in the big chair with a little booster and let Miss Kristen put the cape on her.  Kristen was very surprised at how well Avery did and told us that most kids start crying when they try to put the cape on them.  Avery sat in the chair very well with a snack and some iPhone time to help keep her still.  Avery does not have a lot of hair to cut, but she was in need of a clean-up in the back of her hair.  Mommy is ready for the front of Avery's hair to grow long enough to stay in a ponytail and bow.  She is also very proud of her big girl for doing so well.

Avery got to play at the park with aunt Robyn while mommy got her hair cut.

Molly 1 Month

Last week Molly was 1 month old.  It's hard to believe that she is already a month, but it feels like she has been with us so much longer.  Molly is a great baby, and her big sister has adjusted very well.  We are very blessed to have two sweet and healthy girls.  At Molly's 2 week appointment on April 8, 2013 she had gained back her birth weight and then some, weighing 7 pounds and 12 ounces (30%).  She also grew an inch and measure 22 inches long (93%).  We have got a long and lean girl, but she is starting to fill out.  Molly's head is 14.4inches (64%).  At a month old, Molly has grown out of the newborn clothing due to her long length, and she is wearing 0-3 month clothes.

Molly is starting to smile and we adore her sweet noises and facial expressions. She is sleeping in her crib at night for 3-5 hours.  Mommy hopes that she continues to grow and be a good sleeper.  Molly does a great job of holding her head up as you can tell in her pictures. Big sister Avery is a huge help and is always there to give her a kiss or a passey.  We are very thankful for Molly and look forward to watching her grow.

Little Mommy

Avery has adjusted to being a big sister very well. She loves Molly very much, and we couldn't be prouder as her parents. It is great to see her care for her sister and babies in such a caring way. Over the last four weeks she has become quite the "little mommy." Avery's teachers tell us that she cares for all the babies in her classroom. We love watching her feed babies, pat their backs and rock them. We often find her babies in Molly's swing, bouncy seat and in the highchair. Avery is quick to bring us a pacifier when Molly is fussy, and she had quickly become our big helper. She also loves holding her sister and gives her LOTS of kisses! We love to see these sweet moments and are excited for our girls to share many life experiences as sisters!

NC State Farm Days

Last Thursday morning we went to the NC State Farm Days with some of Avery's friends from school.  The weather was perfect and Avery was so excited to see all the animals.  Not only did she get to see so many different animal, but Avery also got to hold a baby chick.  She was a little timid at first, but that didn't last long.  After holding the chick, Avery tried to grab the chicks and pick them up herself.  Those were some really tough chicks. After seeing all the smaller animals we ventured over to the horses and cows. Avery loves cows and was mooing through the gate. She even got to "milk" the pretend cow. Finally we enjoyed some NC State ice cream before ending our day. Avery liked vanilla, strawberry and chocolate ice cream. She and her friend Millie tried them all, and Strawberry was her favorite. Molly slept through the entire morning. We look forward to going again next year, and maybe we can get daddy to go with us.

Hop Hop Hop

We missed out on seeing the Easter bunny and participating in the egg hunt due to illnesses and contractions. Avery was still able to enjoy some fun Easter activities. She loved telling us the Easter bunny goes, "hop, hop, hop."  Avery had a blast decorating and dying Easter eggs. She also had a blast hunting for Easter eggs. Her favorite part was shaking the eggs, opening them, and enjoying the treats inside. The mini peanut butter cups were her favorite, and we caught her sneaking candy a couple times.

Easter morning Avery enjoyed her Easter basket and all the fun things inside. Thankfully, she didn't find it till after her breakfast because we would of had a hard time getting her to eat something besides candy! She loved her Minnie flip flops from Gigi and Papa.  Mommy and daddy went to church with Avery. Thanks to Gigi and Papa for watching Molly. After church, we all went to Lucky 32 for a delicious brunch. The sun came out just in time for a beautiful brunch and some pictures with our stork that Aunt Robyn and Grammy got for us. Avery loved her special BIG sister star.

After an afternoon nap, we went to Grammy and Pepaw's house for Easter dinner and time with family. Avery and Molly both got more yummy and adorable Easter gifts. Mommy loved their matching outfits from Grammy and can't wait to dress her girls alike. Avery had a blast with her cousins, aunts and uncles. Despite missing out on some of our intended Easter activities, we had a great time celebrating Jesus' resurrection and starting more family traditions. It was an extra special Easter having Molly come into our family.

Molly Fisher King

Sunday March 24, 2013 at 1:25am, we welcomed Molly Fisher King into the world. Molly weighed 7 pounds 1 ounce and was 21 inches long. She is our tall and lean girl with a head of dark hair that is already lightening up.

Molly's entrance into the world was much quicker than big sister's birth. I started to have contraction early Saturday afternoon. Daddy worked in the yard, while mommy did a lot of cleaning and some touch-up painting inside. Big sister, Avery, played and was finally feeling better after a bunch of sick days in the previous weeks. Around 4pm the contractions got stronger and closer. We called the doctor, who informed us to make our way to the hospital. We got ready, stopped by friends' house to drop off a baby gift, and make a pit stop at Moe's for a bite to eat before arriving at the hospital around 6:30pm. Contractions remained strong and 3-4 minutes apart, but I was only 2cm. We were instructed to go walk for an hour nd the come back to be checked for progression. We paced the halls of Rex for an hour and contractions were about 2-3 minutes and getting much stronger. My doctor decided to keep me since I progressed to 3cm and we were in our labor room by 8:30pm. I got my wonderful epidural around 10:30pm and then the ruptured my membranes. We attempted to get some rest...at least Trey got some! I called my mom around 1am to tell her that I was 6cm, and when I got off the phone the baby had come off the monitor. The nurse came in to reposition the monitor and noticed that she had dropped a lot. Miss Molly was close to coming out and I was dilated. The nurse helped me wake daddy and I encouraged him to get some coffee. He was confused and asked me "why?" Before I could say anything the nurse told Trey, "your going to have a baby really soon!" Trey perked up and was ready after grabbing a cup of joe. Before we knew it several nurses and the doctor came in the room and started getting everything ready. After a long contraction and pushing, Molly Fisher King was here! We couldn't believe that she was born so quick, especially compared to labor with Avery. She was perfect and we were so happy to finally meet our little girl. That morning all of our family came to meet Molly. Avery was so good with her little sister. It was love at first sight. Monday afternoon we were discharged and took sweet Molly home.

Last weeks as a family of 3....

We spent the end of February and most of March enjoying our time as a family of 3. We were able to have many mommy and daddy dates, as well as many special times with Avery.
Avery attended several birthday parties and started Kindermusik on Thursdays. We enjoyed walks, play dates, fun at the park, and a morning at playnation!
Unfortunately, we also battled a lot of illnesses in the weeks leading up to Molly's birth. Avery battled some ear infections and required antibiotics, which are miserable to get our toddler to take! In between the ear infections, Avery and mommy got hit by the norovirus. It wasn't a pretty site or smell in our house. Mommy ended up at Rex late one Saturday night getting IV fluids and checking on baby Molly in the belly. Poor daddy was stuck on cleanup patrol and sweet Aunt Robyn took mommy to the hospital. Finally, on March 23 we were all feeling well, and Avery was full of energy, which had been rare in the previous weeks. I'll save the other details of that date and the following for a post on sweet Molly Fisher. Enjoy some pics of life before Molly (the good and the not-so-good)!
Avery's imagination has taken off and it's a joy to play with her, as well as watch her play with her babies, animals and kitchen. She loves to draw, paint and play with play dough.
